Outside of the basics of dealing with people that you would learn by reading “How To Win Friends and Influence People”, there are two key areas that you will need to dial in if you want to be successful on the Internet.
Value and Trust.
Let’s begin with value by stealing an idea from Bob Burg and John David Mann’s book called “The Go-Giver”:
The Law Of Value: “Your true worth is determined by how much more you give in value than you take in payment.”
If you’ve spent any amount of time online, you will have seen people running from social media site to social media site, “pitching their deal”. I have one ding-a-ling who emails me about once a week with the following words: “sign up now, get rich, retire” with a link to his company replicated web site.
There isn’t a snowballs chance in heck that I will be signing up. The guy offers no value whatsoever. People want to be in business with someone they trust and someone who brings something of value to the table.
In a later file, I will teach you how to draft off of other thought leaders, creating value for your followers while engaging in a personal learning process that will have you out creating your own value in the marketplace in no time.
From “The Speed Of Trust”: “Capable people are credible. They inspire trust…if you don’t have current capabilities, if you are not relevant, you will not have credibility. You will be taxed, you won’t get the dividends of trust.”
See how trust and value tie together? These are the building blocks to creating relationships online that will lead to a steady stream of business partners and customers.
My guess is that we need to get your capabilities related to online marketing up to speed. Are you ready?
Until Next Time …
